Fabrizio Zavagli (author of Space Treat Deluxe) has released the demo for his upcoming Atari 2600 game Bounce! that was shown the Austin Gaming Expo last month. In Bounce! you control a ball bouncing on a checkered playfield, where your goal is to destroy all the tiles by bouncing on them without falling down. Different tiles also have different properties: some force your movement in a given direction, some give you a higher jump, and others cannot be destroyed. To view screenshots and download the demo, please visit the Bounce! In Development Page. You can discuss Bounce! with Fabrizio and other AtariAge visitors in our Atari 2600 Forum.

For those budding Atari 2600 programmers looking for inspiration, we've just added the source code to Manuel Polik's Gunfight to our 2600 Archives section. Gunfight is Manuel Polik's first 2600 game, and was heavily inspired by the 1975 Midway arcade game Gun Fight. The source code provides valuable insight into what it takes to code a successful Atari 2600 homebrew game. Both NTSC and PAL versions can be generated with a compile switch, and the DASM, XASM, and TASM assemblers are all supported. You can download the source code here.

For several Atari Lynx games, Atari created full-color poster-style manuals, as opposed to the typical booklet style manual. These fold out posters measure roughly 17" x 22" (except for Block Out, which is a bit smaller) and were folded several times in order to fit in the small Lynx boxes. Scanning these posters was no small feat, and thanks go out to Tony "Xot" Morse for scanning each side of these monsters in two overlapping pieces, which we were then able to stitch together using commercial image stitching software. Atari only produced a small number of poster manuals for the Lynx before reverting back to booklet style manuals. You can browse these manuals in our Lynx Poster Manuals Gallery, as well as from the entry for each game in our rarity database.
