Water Ski was one of two games released by Froggo for the Atari 7800. Froggo was originally a controller manufacturer, but decided to start programming games to help the systems that supported their controllers. Froggo's efforts in game design probably didn't help their controller sales very much at all. Water Ski features tired gameplay that is similar to other obstacle avoiding games like the 2600's Street Racer and Sky Jinks. Here, you must avoid logs, alligators and marshes. If you hit every ramp in a level, you will receive a 1,000,000 point bonus--but you will never do it--the game is too difficult. Water Ski's saving grace is the intriguing two-player co-op mode. One person can steer the boat while the other person guides the water skier. But in the end, this game was a sloppy effort. It only has three levels and the supposed ?in-game? screen on the back of the box is actually just a poorly hand-drawn animation! This is one of the hardest to find games in the 7800 library.
